Watching the Fire Log – A Holiday Tradition

It’s not the holidays until you set your eyes upon the fire log on TV. You can leave it on the background and have the logs snap and crackle all day long.

I have a strange tradition where I must watch it until I see the hand appear on the screen putting in a new log. Sometimes you can even see the poker pushing around the logs too. I remember watching the fire log as a child, crawling up on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate!

If you cable provider is Shaw, you can view it on channel 165 or 212 for HD. It use to be on Channel 4, but for some reason they have moved it to those other channels.

This year, the fire log is celebrating it’s 25th anniversary on TV! Who knew it was that old! They have even put the fire log on twitter  (@shawfirelog) to run a small contest. Tweet them before January 6th, 2011 and you can enter to win a $100 Visa card.

Do you have any strange Christmas traditions that revolve around the fire log?

  • I absolutely love keeping cozy and warm …in front of the television screen, while the holiday log burns 🙂 I’m always (far too) intrigued whenever an additional log is put into place! I secretly yearn for the moment when someone will cough/sneeze/chuckle hehehe.
