Michael Cera

MY COMPUTER. And please don’t fill my head with such nightmares!

Write 2 truths and 1 lie about yourself.

1) I am a first place Canadian poet with a poem that I whipped up in about 10 minutes and didn’t give a darn about!
2) I have a dog named Gweneth.
3) I’m a total geek and radio-host on one of the most popular fan-based Harry Potter podcasts in the world.

Recultured is the blogging project of The Social Media Network. How addicted are you to social media?

I am incredibly ashamed and embarrassed with how addicted I am to social media. I mainly use Facebook and Twitter but Instagram sneaks in there sometimes as well. There are times where I feel like Social Media almost controls my life. As soon as I click the Internet, I subconsciously type “facebook” into my URL. On average I would say I check it..hmmm….20 times a day? I know; bad hey? This summer I went on a 3 day hiking trip where I DID NOT have access to Internet, and it was probably one of the most freeing, exhilarating and red neck experiences I’ve had in a long time. Yee haw!

#1 tip for first-years in college/university?

My #1 for college first-years? GET INVOLVED in things. Clubs! Networks! Organizations! That way you BUILD CONNECTIONS, you MAKE FRIENDS, and you ultimately SUCCEED.

Why do you write?

I write because I like to write. I like to write about things that I like. I like to write about things that I like and have people read it and like it. 🙂

On a more serious note: Writing with blogs such as Recultured allows me to be apart of a team of people that share common interests. Its really awesome to see what other people have to say. It’s also another way for me to keep in touch with the Internet world and place my own unique piece of the Internet within this world.

Recommend one Recultured article written by someone else, and one by yourself.

I wrote an article last year that I am rather proud of. I’d just returned with some friends from viewing a film at the Vancouver Film Festival and I was inspired to write a post on “The Value of Canadian Films”. Please read it! Hopefully I will inspire you to see some films from the homeland at this year’s VIFF!

Also, a recent blog post by Graham Cook had me chuckling. Check it out:

Lastly, it’s Recultured’s 2nd birthday, what kind of cake would you like?

Chocolate, ice cream AND vanilla?
