This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the Legend of Zelda and in true marketing spirit, Nintendo has decided to release their swan song to the Wii with “perfect coincidental timing” with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. But let’s take a moment, breath and look back at how this game came to be.

-Kotaku

At the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2009, we were treated by Shigeru Miyamoto and the Zelda team to a behind-the-scenes teaser poster for an untitled Zelda game. The image had an image of Link, the unspoken hero of time, without a sword and featured a strange creature floating behind him. Needless to say, fans went wild. Rumours shot left and right of who this mysterious floating creature was. Speculation fluttered left and right across the internet. Some said she was obviously the master sword in disguise while others said she was simply the game’s guiding character (such as Navi, Tetra and Midna from the previous installments). If there’s one thing that Zelda fans are good at, it’s speculation and rumours.

JON SHOULDN’T THIS BE IN THE GAME REVIEWS SECTION? (I.E. ADD NEW REVIEW RATHER THAN ADD NEW POST?)
